Our adventure begins with three unforgettable days in Valencia, the birthplace of paella, the rice dish Spain is most famous for. Valencia is Spain’s third largest city and was 2022’s World Design Capital, and 2024’s European Green Capital for its vast swaths of urban green spaces and bike and pedestrian zones.
We continue in Barcelona, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and famous for Gaudí and other Art Nouveau architecture, Barcelona is one of Europe’s trendiest and loveliest cities.
We’ll also visit the Costa Brava, which makes up a large part of the Spanish region of Catalonia. It runs all the way from the French border down to the province of Barcelona. One of the Costa Brava’s most famous former residents is the eccentric artist Salvador Dali, and home to some of the country’s best beaches, small and intimate, surrounded by soaring cliff tops and unusual rock formations; and yes (before you ask), we’ll be visiting the Dali Museum.
We’ll be staying right in the heart of Barcelona, just a couple blocks from Plaza Catalonia and Las Ramblas. Considered the city center, Plaza Catalonia is where Barcelona’s major tourist attractions are located, including the Gothic Quarter, El Raval, Las Ramblas and La Sagrada Familia.
OUR HOTEL And Apartment
We will be staying in a boutique hotel in Valencia; and in Barcelona, we’ll be staying in a spacious six bedroom, six bathroom apartment, directly across from the Coliseum, and just a block and a half from Placa de Catalunya, or Catalonia Square.
OUR ITINERARY
Here’s just a few of the many things we’ll be experiencing:
- We’ll see La Sagrada Familia, the most famous church in Barcelona, perhaps in the world, and once you see it for yourself you will understand why.
- We’ll visit the genuine Holy Grail at Valencia Cathedral.
- We’ll spend a day in the historic cities of Girona and Besalu in Spain’s northeastern Catalonia region.
- We’ll spend an afternoon touring the Salvador Dali Museum
- Our trip wouldn’t be complete without a Flamenco show and dinner
And that’s just a taste of all we’ll see and do…click her for a more detailed itinerary.
THE FOOD
I hope you know us well enough to know that we will be dishing up the best that the Amalfi Coast and Naples has to offer at amazing restaurants, as well as in our own kitchen. Plant-based or not, you’ll find something luscious to satisfy your desires at the table.
