'Fa tutto ciuccio gazzo!' My favorite Neopolitan slang curse word (look it up) explodes from me as I slam the book shut.
I have just finished reading “We are the Weather” by Jonathan Safran Foer. The book focuses on the human contribution to climate change and the steps we can take right now in our personal lives that can make a significant difference in whether our planet moves into demise or if we can slow the process.
Let me begin by saying that I love his books and have read them all.

(From Christina: I read this in The Guardian and my mind was a little more than blown. This article is long but you will relish every word. And as the author states at the very end (spoiler alert…this is the end of the piece), “…the war on vegans is the act of a doomed majority fighting to defend its harmful way of life. Vegans might well be vociferous and annoying, holier-than-thou, self-satisfied and evangelical. But as their numbers grow beyond the margins, perhaps the worst thing they could be is right.”)

It’s a simple thought that came to me while I sat in a lecture at a conference. The lecturer was a mentor of mine, Bill Tara, a brilliant man who’s forgotten more about the natural order of the planet than most of us will ever know.
He was talking about how easily we could slow climate change through living sustainably.
He said the words as I thought them: “The world won’t change unless we change. We have to stop killing animals.”
So what does that mean?
It means what it says.

My husband, who I adore, loves Time magazine. Yup, good old fashioned Time magazine.
I’m not such a big fan but every now and then, I see an article that piques my interest and inspires me to write. This week I read such an article.
The first line of the article reads, “If you want to eat something for better health, make it fiber.” I turned to the front cover to be sure I wasn’t reading a vintage magazine from the ‘90’s…’80’s or ‘70’s since fiber has been touted as an essential building block of wellness for decades.

I am at it again, ranting about cancer and the fact that we continue to “wage war” on this disease but yet, what are we accomplishing?
It’s the time of year when we will once again, Stand Up to Cancer, watching on all networks as celebrities in their designer tee shirts ask us to donate to groundbreaking research to end cancer. Again.

I will admit that I have been on something of a long rant these days as I watch junk food being peddled to us as real food and the accompanying pharmaceutical ads (with their breathy disclaimers of side effects) supposed to ward off the impact of these foods on humans.

I can practically see your eyes rolling. We post some very cool social media with daily healthy tips, yummy recipes and some interesting information about our food and making healthier choices.
But now? Oh, yeah, baby. Time for the big guns.
Should we be eating meat? Not so much. I love you so I wish I could tell you there was good news about meat.
Despite what we see and hear in advertising, animal food is not vital to our lives and is damaging to our health and wellness.
