GMO food

The DARK Act Passes…Now What?

I was traveling through Sicily when I heard the news. What has been dubbed as The DARK Act (Denying Americans the Right to Know) or HR 1599 (Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015) passed with a majority of votes, backed largely by House Republicans. The vote is discouraging: 250-150, not exactly what might be called close.

If GMO Labeling Is a Con, Then Con Me, Please

Did everyone see the article on Gawker last week proclaiming that organizations demanding mandatory labelling on foods containing GMO’s is simply a con to get consumers to purchase more organic foods? (Like that would be a bad thing…)

You know, I always try to be nice and to take the high road, meet people where they are and not judge. But GMO proponents just kill me with their slimy rhetoric.

If GMO Food Is So Great and So Safe, Just Label It

It’s National Nutrition Month, thirty-one days dedicated to helping people make healthier choices in life. I see it as a time to refresh our commitment to wellness but also as a time to pay attention to the food we eat…and what’s in it.

We should be nervous about the future of our food…and asking a lot of questions…one of which is ‘What’s a GMO and why is it in my food?’

Plants or animals that have had their genetic makeup altered to exhibit traits that are not naturally theirs.
