This simple and oh, so delicious and welcome gift will warm the heart of anyone lucky enough to receive it.
Makes 2 jars
Ingredient List:
- 12-16 apples, cored and diced, do not peel (any apple will yield a delicious result)
- Pinch sea salt
- Generous pinch ground cinnamon
- ½ cup apple juice
- 3 tablespoons brown rice syrup
Step By Step Instructions:
Place the apples in a large pot with salt, cinnamon, juice and rice syrup. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook until apples are soft and liquid has been absorbed into the apples, about 30-40 minutes (depending on how large or small the dice of the apples).
Using a fork or potato masher, mash the apples to create a coarse applesauce. Cool slightly and spoon into 2 clean 1-quart mason jars. Allow to cool completely before sealing the lid. Tie a decorative ribbon around the lid and you’re ready to go.
COOK’S TIP: This will keep in the fridge for 4-6 weeks.
