How does food affect certain health conditions?
This is a big one…and many of you have emailed me asking how a whole natural diet can help cure disease, alleviate symptoms…and prevent illness in the first place.
A diet of whole unprocessed, seasonal foods will, simply stated, improve the quality of your health. There are countless stories of people who have cured life-threatening illnesses with diet changes…me among them.
While I appreciate how concerned you all are about your health or the health of a loved one, without seeing you face to face or knowing more about your condition than you can tell me in an email, it would be irresponsible of us to advise you about diet changes over the internet. So if you email me about a health condition, you can expect general-type diet advice and lifestyle changes that could benefit anyone, but not necessarily specific to your condition.
The good news is there are hundreds of macrobiotic and nutritional counselors around the country (and the world) who can sit with you one on one and help you tailor a diet for your specific health concerns. My current choices in my life do not include that kind of counseling. Just ask at your local natural health food store or give a call to the kind folks at the Kushi Institute in Beckett, Massachusetts…they have a worldwide directory and can help you find someone to work with you to find your way back to health.
