Don’t Fry Day?
It’s Don’t Fry Day, but it’s not what you think. This is “take care of your skin” day. As Memorial Day weekend is on us and we unofficially kick off the lazy days of summer, think of your precious skin as you head outside to play…and use these tricks to keep glowing from now til Labor Day:
If you drink a lot of coffee, try green tea now and then. Coffee is great (I adore espresso, truly…) but it can dehydrate us leaving our skin looking…dry and sallow.
Eat an anti-inflammatory diet that’s rich in whole grains, lots and lots of veggies, beans and good quality fats, like extra virgin olive oil, nuts and avocados (take care with the calories, though, my loves).
And ditch…as much as you can…sugar, white flour, salty snacks and an excessive amount of booze. They make you look tired, old and drained…they make you feel that way too. You’re not giving up all your summer fun, but you’re being smart. You do want to be smart, right?
The longer you enjoy an “anti-inflammatory diet’” the better you’ll look…and feel. And here’s the best part: If you do nothing more than change your food choices, you can radically change your appearance for the better…fast.
Wait…what?
I kid you not. I don’t mess around when it comes to how my skin looks. I love perfect, fresh-looking, youthful skin and I will do what it takes in life to keep it for as long as possible.
So eating a diet filled with nutrient-dense, moisture-rich “real” food will keep your skin in tippy top condition. You’ll notice a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles; you’ll see an increase in skin radiance, more uniform color over your whole face and eye area, smaller pores and less puffiness. Oh…and you’ll notice an increase in energy, mental clarity, alertness and a better mood and sense of well-being.
And that looks great on everybody.
