Suzanne’s Specialties Brown Rice Syrup is in a class of its own. Susan Morano, founder of Suzanne’s Specialties and I have been friends for more than 25 years…when I first tasted her decadently delicious brown rice syrup. It was love from the first moment…for her and her products. While Suz’s company has grown to become the largest producer of rice syrup, as well as other sweeteners, she still takes pride in creating authentic traditionally produced brown rice syrup. Brown rice syrup is a natural, glucose based sweetener produced by steeping brown rice with special enzymes (koji) converting mashed grain into a smooth flavored and sweet liquid extract.

Through the process of fermentation, this sweet extract is concentrated to create a rich, heavy syrup (similar to the consistency of honey). During fermentation, the starches in the rice convert to maltose and some other complex sugars, making this syrup a wonderfully healthy sweetener.  Unlike cane sugar, this complex sugar releases slowly in the bloodstream, providing fuel for the body rather than wreaking havoc on the blood sugar.
 
No preservatives, artificial flavors or colors are used to produce Suzanne’s Specialtes brown rice syrup. All are fat free, gluten free, non-GMO and vegan. Hand mashed blueberries, raspberries or strawberries are added to Original Rice Nectar to make the Fruited Rice Nectars. In the Chocolate Rice Nectar, the very best cocoa is added, resulting in a rich, velvety smooth chocolate syrup. Organic Genmai Rice Nectar is made from 100% brown rice.
