This is one of those vegan dessert recipes that everyone adores, whether they eat well or live on Twinkies. Easy, richly flavored and completely delicious, these babies are an ode to chocolate and sure to please. I love to make them for Halloween parties. They sure beat candy corn! Oh..did I mention they are glorious any time of year? 


1 cup non-dairy, grain-sweetened chocolate chips
1 cup almond or peanut butter (or other nut or seed butter)
1/2 cup Suzanne's Specialties Maple Brown Rice Nectar
1/2 cup Suzanne's Specialties Chocolate Rice Nectar
3 cups Crispy Brown Rice Cereal (I like Erewhon brand)

Place chocolate, nut butter and rice nectars in a sauce pan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and gently fold in crispy rice until it's completely incorporated throughout the chocolate. With wet hands, form the mixture into small spheres and arrange on a platter. Allow to stand for 15 minutes before serving. 

Makes 24-30 servings. 

Note: You may also press the mixture into a 9 x 9-inch square pan and allow to set for 30 minutes before cutting into squares. Also note that asteroids will keep for 5-7 days in a sealed container. Do not refrigerate, as they get hard and dry.
